OPA Submits Comments on USMCA During Open Comment Period
November 6, 2025November 6, 2025– The Organic Produce Association, the only trade association focused solely on organic produce, today announced that it has submitted formal comments to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) during the open comment period regarding the operation of the Agreement between the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and Canada (USMCA).
In its submission, OPA expressed the importance of maintaining zero tariffs on agriculture goods, including organic, and enhancing alignment with the U.S. National Organic Program (NOP).
“USMCA is a key component in the U.S. organic produce sector’s ability to meet growing consumer demand for organic fruits and vegetables. Maintaining tariff-free access for organic fruits and vegetables, and strengthening tri-lateral harmonization to the National Organic Program, are critical for U.S. organic produce growers and consumers.”
OPA appreciates the opportunity to provide input and welcomes continued engagement as this process moves forward.
